Project and Proposal Engineer (Junior)

For our upcoming project which starts in January 2020, we are looking for a Project and Proposal Engineer (Junior)

We are working on an exciting project for the construction of a port in the far North, and therefore we are looking for enthusiastic and smart people to form part of this team. For the coming half a year the work will consist mainly of thinking of smart and innovative ways in which we can execute the project. This period is followed by the project preparation phase and finally the actual execution of the project. The project is characterized by extremes, not only in terms of weather conditions but also in sheer size. We are looking for persons that can think of creative and innovative solutions.  Important is that we are working on a basis of trust and above all, that we are having fun at what we do.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To assist the Principal / Senior Project and Proposal Engineer in executing Technical Scopes of work on a Project or Proposal. To independently execute defined project scopes of work or packages;
  • Review and be familiar with Engineering Department Manuals, Specifications, Design and Drawing procedures and work instructions in order to conform with the COMPANY IMS;
  • To ensure his/ her own safety and that of others is not compromised or placed at risk;
  • Help develop and encourage any technical suggestions that will enhance the overall Project Engineering or Operational efficiency;
  • Help implement and organise approved modifications to the project, ensuring changes are fully documented and included in the appropriate documents;
  • Contribute to Department/Group Specifications and Guidelines;
  • Prepare offshore operations procedures at the request of the Vessel Superintendent and / or Project Manager;
  • Assist in the planning of offshore mobilisation / demobilisation of project equipment;
  • Assist in the co-ordination assembly, testing, commission, installation and operation at onshore and offshore locations;
  • Deliver reports and memos and request for quotes;
  • Request for Quotes;
  • Liaise with and co-ordinate the activities of vendors and subcontractors as and when required as a part of the Project, WITHOUT commercial authority.

Competencies and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of Civil / Port / Marine Construction;
  • Review and be familiar with Engineering Department Manuals, Specifications, Design and Drawing procedures and work instructions in order to conform with the COMPANY IMS;
  • Be familiar with latest Industry Codes and Standards including statutory rules and regulations;
  • To ensure his/ her own safety and that of others is not compromised or placed at risk;
  • Help develop and encourage any technical suggestions that will enhance the overall Project Engineering or Operational efficiency;
  • Office 365;
  • Keep up to date with ongoing developments in the field of Port / Marine Construction and Coastal Engineering;
  • Lead Subordinates and Team members;
  • Provide mentorship/guidance to subordinates or mentee;
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse cultural environment.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Engineering University Qualification;
  • Multiple Industry Project Experience;
  • Industry Project Experience;
  • Complimentary Industry Experience.
